Review of the potential of curcumin for allergic and inflammatory reactions in COVID-19. Authors highlight that curcumin has numerous health benefits, including antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and antimicrobial activities. Recent studies suggest curcumin may help counter the allergic and inflammatory reactions triggered by SARS-CoV-2, as it modulates the release of allergic inflammatory mediators like histamine, IgE, and inflammatory cytokines. Authors note that curcumin could potentially help reduce oxidative stress, cytokine storm, and associated physiological issues in COVID-19.
Reviews covering curcumin for COVID-19 include1-15.
