Immune stimulatory effect of Nigella sativa in healthy animal models: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Review of the effects of nigella sativa (NS) on humoral and cellular immunity in healthy animals through a systematic review and meta-analysis of 17 studies. The meta-analysis found that NSS significantly increased serum IgG titers and anti-sheep red blood cell (SRBC) antibody titers, suggesting NS may enhance secondary humoral immune responses against viral and bacterial infections in healthy animals. However, the evidence was non-significant for effects on serum IgM, anti-Newcastle disease virus (NDV) antibody titers, total white blood cell count, and percentages of monocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils, basophils and eosinophils, indicating NS may not significantly impact cellular immunity. Authors conclude that NS might enhance humoral but not cellular immunity in healthy animals.

In conclusion, black seeds enhance humoral immunity in healthy animals but do not affect cellular immunity.
