Analysis of 68 COVID-19 patients and 17 healthy controls, showing higher mortality with vitamin D deficiency, and with 1,25(OH)2D levels <1 ng/mL, statistically significant only for 1,25(OH)2D levels. Serum ACE2, 1,25(OH)2D, and ACE2 mRNA were correlated with severity, length of hospital stay, and mortality. This study is excluded in the after exclusion results of meta analysis: unadjusted results with no group details.
risk of death, 82.1% lower, RR 0.18, p = 0.09, cutoff 20ng/mL, inverted to make RR<1 favor high D levels (≥20ng/mL), 25(OH)D.
risk of death, 73.7% lower, RR 0.26, p = 0.04, cutoff 1ng/mL, inverted to make RR<1 favor high D levels (≥1ng/mL), 1,25(OH)2D.

COVID-19, the 21st century pandemic disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, has shown a wide clinical spectrum ranging from asymptomatic to deadly serious pneumonia. Objective: In our study, the relationship between the pathogenesis and clinical severity of COVID-19 and vitamin D, ACE2, Furin and TMPRSS2 was investigated. Methods. Serum 25(OH)D, 1,25(OH)2D and ACE2 protein were measured in 85 COVID-19 cases, divided..
