Rat study showing dose-dependent liver and kidney toxicity with favipiravir. Authors note that lesions worsened at medium and high-dose levels and propose that co-administration of antioxidant or anti-inflammatory treatments might mitigate hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic injury during favipiravir therapy for COVID-19.
