Retrospective 152 mechanically ventilated patients in the USA showing unadjusted lower mortality with vitamin C, vitamin D, HCQ, and zinc treatment, statistically significant only for vitamin C.
This is the 1st of 61 COVID-19 controlled studies for vitamin C, which collectively show efficacy with p=0.00000098. 15 studies are RCTs, which show efficacy with p=0.00013. This study is excluded in the after exclusion results of meta analysis: unadjusted results with no group details.
This study includes zinc, vitamin D, vitamin C, and HCQ.
risk of death, 30.7% lower, RR 0.69, p = 0.04, treatment 40 of 79 (50.6%), control 52 of 73 (71.2%), NNT 4.9, odds ratio converted to relative risk.
